Attention

Important Notice.

Dear Patient,

We trust this finds you well. As an essential healthcare provider, West Portal Family Dentistry has kept limited hours throughout the entire shelter in place order, to provide urgent care for our community. We have seen many of you, as well as, some new people from the community who needed emergency care.

We will be adding office hours starting Tuesday, May 12, 2020 and resuming normal schedule by Tuesday, June 2, 2020.

We will be returning to a “new normal” way of providing dental care, in order to ensure the safety of all our patients and staff. We have put in place enhanced protocols per CDC and ADA guidelines to accomplish this goal. We will be screening all staff and patients every day for symptoms of COVID 19. The temperature will be taken and screening questions will be asked and recorded. The reception area was reconfigured to allow for social distancing. The schedule was modified to lessen the number of people in the office at the same time. The enhanced intra-oral suctioning system will be deployed for appropriate procedures to better control aerosols. We have always followed strict OSHA guidelines for disinfecting and sterilizing surfaces, equipments, and instruments; and we will continue to do so. Enhanced PPE protocols will be used to ensure we deliver the safest possible dentistry for our patients and staff.

Please contact us via phone at 415.661.7779 or via email info@westportaldentist.com should you have any questions or concerns. We greatly appreciate your patience and cooperation throughout this challenging, new normal way of delivering the best possible dental care to you.

Take care and see you soon !

Sincerely,
Dr. Terri Nguyen and West Portal Family Dentistry Team

Dentist in San Francisco, CA stresses the importance of regular dental visits

Importance of Regular Dental Visits in San Francisco area

It is completely true that many people dread going to the dentist, so they’ll put it off for too long or just not go at all without realizing the long-term damage that can be happening as a result. Cavities, gum disease and worse can all be the result of avoiding your dentist. Dr. Terri Nguyen wants to stress the importance in scheduling a visit with her at West Portal Family Dentistry in San Francisco, CA so that she can perform an exam (cleanings are also a great idea) and then, based on what she sees, formulate a long-term dental plan that will ensure you retain optimal oral health moving forward.

Regular dental check ups

Dr. Nguyen encourages all residents of the San Francisco, CA area to come in for an exam. West Portal Family Dentistry offers an experience that minimizes any stress or discomfort when at all possible. So even if you get dental anxiety, Dr. Nguyen will do everything in her power to make you feel comfortable. There are several reasons why you should be making regular dental appointments, which include:

  • Regular dental exams help keep your teeth and gums healthy.
  • A regular dental visit consists of two equally important parts. First, your dentist will do an examination of your teeth so that any trouble areas can be detected and treated. The second part of a dental visit is the cleaning, during which any plaque or tartar buildup will be removed, and your teeth will be polished. This is critical for long-lasting dental health.
  • Most of us will only need twice a year visits, so it doesn’t even take too much time out of our daily lives. Visiting a dentist twice a year is the easiest path to superior oral health.

What to do between visits

Outside of bi-yearly visits, oral maintenance still needs to be addressed so that you don’t get any bad news upon your next dental checkup. The great news is that most oral health maintenance consists of activities most of us already do, including:

  • Brushing your teeth twice a day using fluoride toothpaste.
  • Daily flossing.
  • Rinsing with a mouthwash to control bacteria growth and help keep your breath fresh.

Three tasks, that’s it! If you adhere to healthy dental habits, you can control much of what goes on inside your mouth. This isn’t always the case, so it’s important to schedule a dental appointment if you experience any discomfort or pain in your teeth, mouth or gums.

Dr. Terri Nguyen would love to have you come into her office for a visit and cleaning. Her mission is one of superior oral health for anybody that comes into her office, so please give her a call at (415) 604-9292 today for an appointment.
