Important Notice.

Dear Patient,

We trust this finds you well. As an essential healthcare provider, West Portal Family Dentistry has kept limited hours throughout the entire shelter in place order, to provide urgent care for our community. We have seen many of you, as well as, some new people from the community who needed emergency care.

We will be adding office hours starting Tuesday, May 12, 2020 and resuming normal schedule by Tuesday, June 2, 2020.

We will be returning to a “new normal” way of providing dental care, in order to ensure the safety of all our patients and staff. We have put in place enhanced protocols per CDC and ADA guidelines to accomplish this goal. We will be screening all staff and patients every day for symptoms of COVID 19. The temperature will be taken and screening questions will be asked and recorded. The reception area was reconfigured to allow for social distancing. The schedule was modified to lessen the number of people in the office at the same time. The enhanced intra-oral suctioning system will be deployed for appropriate procedures to better control aerosols. We have always followed strict OSHA guidelines for disinfecting and sterilizing surfaces, equipments, and instruments; and we will continue to do so. Enhanced PPE protocols will be used to ensure we deliver the safest possible dentistry for our patients and staff.

Please contact us via phone at 415.661.7779 or via email should you have any questions or concerns. We greatly appreciate your patience and cooperation throughout this challenging, new normal way of delivering the best possible dental care to you.

Take care and see you soon !

When the teeth have become dark, dull, or yellowed, it may be time to speak to a dentist about the benefits professional teeth whitening. San Francisco, CA area professionals, Dr. Terri Nguyen and Laura Huynh, are dentists at West Portal Family Dentistry who are readily available to assist patients in cosmetic treatment options such as professional teeth bleaching.

What is teeth whitening?

You may have been through the local drugstore and seen at-home bleaching products in the oral health care aisle next to toothpaste and mouthwashes. However, many of these items are not very strong, resulting in little, if any, results. Instead, the team at West Portal Family Dentistry encourages patients to consider the advantages of professional treatments such as the KöR whitening system available with Drs. Terri Nguyen and Laura Huynh.

What is KöR whitening?

KöR whitening combines the power of in-office power bleaching and concentrated take-home whitening gels and trays. With in-house treatment and in-home whitening, patients can achieve a smile brighter than ever before! The KöR whitening system is extremely effective and affordable for many of our patients interested in cosmetically enhancing their smile’s appearance. However, it is important for patients to know that whitening products do not affect certain elements of the smile.

What does teeth bleaching not affect?

  • Dentures
  • Bridges
  • Porcelain veneers
  • Crowns

Can teeth whitening damage the gums?

If patients do not closely follow our dentists’ instructions with their at-home whitening kits, they can damage the gum tissue. Therefore, it is so important to comply with treatment and ask the dentist questions during the initial consultation visit.

Who is a candidate for whitening?

Most patients without restorations such as those listed above are considered appropriate candidates for the KöR whitening system. However, a consultation appointment must be scheduled before moving forward with treatment.
